What Is Presentific?

Presentific is the answer to gift giving. It is a service & interactive website for giving experiences as presents.

Our lives are full of stuff we don't need. However we often miss the people we do need. Memories of shared experiences are the most valuable possessions we have. Give someone a valuable gift – your time.

On the Presentific website you can write about & share experiences, comment on our recommended & other people’s experiences & get inspired by life experiences.

This is what makes Presentific totally unique.

The Presentific card is a funky artist designed little card that replaces the standard greeting card. Each card has an original number - so you can go to the Presentific website, write your message to the person you’re giving the experience to & start the card's original blog. Both the giver & receiver can write about & share the experience on the website.

And this is where it gets interesting.

The person who receives a Presentific card will keep the memory of the experience forever - but they can’t keep the card - they keep it moving - pass the card on to someone else & give another experience as a present. And so on & on.. Everyone who receives the card can write about their experience, track the journey of the card & share all the experiences connected with it!!

You could also give a Presentific card as a gift itself & let someone start their own experience adventure!!

FAQ - Some frequently asked questions.

• 1. Do I have to buy or give the experience from the Presentific website?
  No – the experiences on the Presentific website are to give you ideas & inspiration. You can choose to give whatever experience you want from whatever source.
• 2. Do I have to be present with the person whom I’m giving the experience to?
  No – you can give the experience to anyone, anywhere, anytime – if you can’t be there to share the experience in person – use the Presentific website to share the experience on-line!!
• 3. When passing the Presentific card on – should the same experience be passed on too?
  No – any experience you choose (or the same one if you want) can be given when you pass the card on.
• 4. When do I have to pass the Presentific card on to someone else?
  Anytime you choose to. Obviously if the card keeps moving the more active the card’s blog will be – but it’s up to you.
• 5. What happens to the card’s blog if someone does not pass the Presentific card on?
  Then the card will stop moving but the card’s blog on the website will remain active providing people keep writing or adding to the blog.
• 6. Can I pass the Presentific card back to the person who gave it to me?
  Yes – there really are no rules about the Presentific card – it is just a fun thing that can be passed on. Obviously the more people who receive the card the more fascinating the card’s blog will become.
• 7. Can I give more than one card at one time?
  Yes – you can give as many cards to as many people as you want.
• 8. Can I just give someone the Presentific card without an experience?
  Yes – the card by itself can be an experience itself & of course the person you give the card to can pass the card on & give their own experience & start the journey of the card.
• 9. What if I love my Presentific card so much I want to keep it?
  Well it does defeat the purpose – but you could always buy another one for yourself.
• 10. What if I don’t like the experience my friend gave me?
  Fire your friend.

A message from Guy..

My family & friends are scattered around the world – so time with loved ones is valuable. Presentific is the present experience – because life is all about the here & now. Year after year my mum said “I just don’t know what to get you for a present” & I’d answer “Don’t get me anything – when we’re together let’s do something special”. That was the seed that created Presentific. Then one day at a friend’s birthday I gave a card & wrote “IOU an experience as a present.” After a few celebratory drinks we decided a “pass it on” card would be fun. That was the seed that created the Presentific card.

I must admit I have received a few dodgy presents from people I like & love – so giving experiences might help the situation a bit. Mind you I’m sure some people might give pretty dodgy experiences too, but it’s a start. When the idea of Presentific hit me I really started thinking about gift giving & why we give presents – the ritual, the obligation, the joy, the moment, the never ending challenge of giving (& receiving) wanted gifts. Is gift giving all about the receiver or the giver? I continue to ponder all these things & hopefully have encouraged people to think about why & how they give aswell.

Speaking of dodgy presents – we all feel guilty when we receive presents we don’t like (from people we do like). You can share your guilty secrets on the Presentific website – you are not alone.

And finally I am inspired by people who have a generous spirit. Over the years I have interviewed an array of artists & celebrities on my radio programs & have learnt that the more successful people are the most generous spirited. I firmly believe that generosity breeds success. Presentific is for living life with the spirit of generosity!!

And that simply is all I want Presentific to be – fun, useful & inspiring.

The Presentific ripples, bubbles, loops & hoops pattern is my image of what Presentific is doing in the big wide world – connecting all sorts of different circles & spreading ripples of generosity. I drew the original sketch & my brief to the designers Christopher Hanzie & Melvin Chong at Chrome www.chrome.com.sg was to make it really bright, warm & colourful. They came up with the brilliant Presentific pattern.
